Why do I need dentures?

Dentures are a popular treatment option for replacing one or more missing teeth. As opposed to implants, dentures are generally removable, and thanks to recent dental advancements today’s dentures are more comfortable and authentic looking than ever before.

Difference between full and partial dentures?

Both full and partial dentures are custom-made from impressions taken from each individual patient. Full dentures are suggested when all or most of the natural teeth are missing. If the remaining natural teeth need to be extracted, the dentures will not be fitted or placed until your mouth has healed properly.

Partial dentures rest beside and connect to your natural teeth, or crowns may be placed to serve as proper support for the denture. Essentially, partial dentures offer a removable alternative to bridges.

Denture check-ups!

Over time, your dentures may need to be touched up due to natural wear that may cause the dentures not to fit properly. Along with regular cleanings and examinations, you should visit Dr. Kearney at least annually to analyze the status of your dentures.

I’ve been going to Dr. Kearney for 33 years now and never had something I needed special work on until this month when I broke off a piece of my tooth on a popcorn kernel. How often do you go to the dentist and actually have fun? I did today! The entire Austin Bluffs Dental team is very friendly and was caring about my comfort. But their willingness to joke around and have fun certainly made it much easier to walk into that hour-long treatment in the chair. Compared to the somber, no-smile dentists I’ve been to in the past, walking into a friendly, laughing atmosphere is really enjoyable.
